Equinor buys the energy trading company Danske Commodities (DC) for 400 million euros – around 3.7 billion.

The acquisition of one of Europe’s largest companies in short-term energy trading supports Equinor’s development towards becoming a broad energy company, writes Equinor in a message Friday morning. The Norwegian oil company will spend 15-20 percent of its investments in new and renewable energy solutions by 2030.

DC has its head office in Denmark’s Aarhus and has 284 employees. In 2017, a total of 318 terawattimer power was purchased in 37 countries. The company completes over 4,000 commercial transactions and processes around 173 terabytes of data each day. They are in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
