The Germany President Joachim Gauck and his partner Daniela Schadt started Wednesday a three-day state visit to Norway.
Gauck, who has been German president since 2012, is visiting both Oslo and Trondheim at the invitation of King Harald, but should also meet Prime Minister Erna Solberg and visit the Parliament and the cathedral.
The German president has primarily a ceremonial function, so it is not likely for the major political discussions. Either way, the relationship between the two countries is impeccable, if you believe the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin:
- There is hardly a single problem in our bilateral relations, according to their websites, where Germany also known as Norway's main partner in Europe.
During his two days in Oslo, the presidential couple are eating lunch at Akershus Castle with the government as host, visit the Nobel Institute and Youth Festival Young wood in Frogner Park. And in Trondheim the presidential couple will visit the cathedral and marine technology research institute Marintek.
