Her fortieth year has been characterized by a debate about Crown Prince couple's use of money and how they should behave in public and privately. But after discussion and criticism, stands Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the their choice, with broad popular support.
The birthday is Monday 19 August, but the day highlighted on Sunday with open air church service at Queen Park.
In newspaper Dagbladet magazine in July, the Crown Princess was asked if she has found the final frame for his role. She said neither yes or no:
- The most important thing is not to stand still. Thinking that it is never good enough, that I constantly have to develop myself both to be a better person and a better version of myself. Also a better version of myself as Crown Princess, was the reply.
- She takes her own and different choices and stands for what she does. This helps her to modernize the royal family. I am very glad that we have not got a crown princess who is not a puppet and blindly follow the well-trodden track, says NTBs former royal reporter Wibecke Lie.
King book author and associate professor at the School of Marketing Carl-Erik Grimstad think the last year has not been a good Mette-Marit-year total:
- Criticism of her has been given a greater weight and perhaps a greater depth than before, he said.
