A jury in the Court of Appeal has announced an 81 year-old man guilty of killing his wife in Sarpsborg in March last year, NRK news reported.
The 81-year-old appealed earlier this year after the Sarpsborg District Court sentenced him to 13 years in prison for the murder of his 72 year old wife.
The man is accused of having shot his wife with a rifle while she was lying in bed. He testified that he did not intend to hit her when he took out his weapon after they had quarreled.
During the procedure of appeal by the Court, Attorney General Anne Christine Stoltz said,’ In my opinion, this indicates a pure execution and a deliberate act’, according to NRK. The Court of Appeal sentencing will happen subsequently.
‘My client is very disappointed. He has always maintained that this was an accident. He has, of course, hoped that the high court would believe him on that. Unfortunately, the result became different’, says the lawyer for the 81-year-old, Harald Otterstad.
