The alcohol serving ban will be continued until mid-February. However, restaurants in the closed Oslo region will soon be able to reopen.

“The rules on the alcohol serving ban will not be changed now,” Minister of Education Guri Melby (V) stated when the government held a press conference on Saturday morning.

The government stated that the national measures would be continued until mid-February, while the 25 municipalities in the east of Norway that have been closed down will gradually reopen from February 3.

“Restaurants in these municipalities can then reopen. Here, too, the risk of infection is moderate, as long as you follow the infection control rules,” Melby said.

She believes the relief will allow more people to return to work.
