Two women who refused to pay corona fines will appear in court in Bergen on Tuesday.

This will be the first case related to corona fines in Hordaland District Court, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

On the night of November 15 last year, the police issued a total of NOK 70,000 in fines after a party with 15 people in Sandviken in Bergen. The two women refused to accept the fines of NOK 10,000 and NOK 5,000, respectively.

The Western Police District has issued a total of 30 fines at parties during the pandemic.

The women’s defender, lawyer Didrik Beck Rodarte, says they are taking the case to court as a matter of principle and that they are “not opposed to corona restrictions in general.”
