Death toll rises after a major train accident in India

At least 120 people have died, and over 200 been injured, after a passenger train derailed in the north of India.

During the accident, at least 14 of the train’s carriages derailed. It happened at around at 03.00 local time on Saturday night on an express route near Pukhrayan.

Many of the passengers were asleep when the accident happened. Afterward, many were trapped in the derailed carriages.

Police Inspector, Zaki Ahmned, stated at a press conference that approximately 200 people were injured, and the death toll could rise further.
