Figures from the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) show that 77,836 people in Norway have so far been vaccinated with the third dose of the corona vaccine, the so-called booster dose.

Last week, 15,730 third doses were administered.

“At the national level, just under 50% of people in the age groups 75–84 years and 85 years and older have been vaccinated with a third dose, so the vaccination has gotten off to a good start in these groups,” Geir Bukholm at the FHI told NTB.

For the age group 65–74 years, this proportion is less than 10%, primarily because many people in this group need to wait for six months to pass from receiving their second dose of the vaccine, according to Bukholm.

People over the age of 65 and people in two defined risk groups have been offered a booster dose of the corona vaccine in Norway.

The group of people over the age of 65 amounts to 965,742 people, while the FHI has previously estimated that the patient groups defined as risk groups together amount to up to 200,000 people.

10% of the elderly in Oslo have received the third dose of vaccine. Oslo is thus the county with the largest proportion of elderly people who got their third dose.
