The National Institute of Public Health (FHI) proposes longer opening hours in grocery stores and for alcohol sales before Christmas to avoid a spike in infection in connection with Christmas shopping.

“With open shops on several public holidays at Christmas, you can reduce shopping and pressure on shops before Christmas.

“Extended sales time for alcohol in shops and at liquor stores could lead to a further reduction in (infection) pressure,” the FHI wrote in its recommendation that has been sent to the government.

“For shopping centers, a strategy should be prepared for the entire center, including common areas,” the FHI noted.

Later on Wednesday, the government will hold its coronavirus press conference.
