Fremskrittspartiet (FRP) will vote against the suggestion of Health Minister Bent Høie to introduce neutral packaging of snus boxes.

Morten Wold (FRP), member of the Health Committee, has already notified Høie that the party will vote against neutral snus boxes, says newspaper VG. “We believe it is unnecessary, because snus is a much less harmful product than other tobacco”.

Previously, Venstre (the left party) also stated not to be supportive of the neutralization of snus boxes. This means that Høie cannot count on a majority from this side, and must seek support from the Arbeiderpartiet (The Labor Party) for his proposal.

FRP did however say that it will be likely that the party will vote for neutral packaging of cigarettes.
