Lobster fishing starts on Saturday

Lobster fishery along the Norwegian coast will start on Saturday.

Lobster population in Norway is greatly reduced and that is why there are strict rules for the catch of marine delicacy.

Limited season for lobster expires Saturday morning and then there are many pleasure boaters who will go out starting the process.

Depending where in the country you live may lobster caught until either late November or the end of year.

On the coastline from the Swedish border to and including Sogn og Fjordane, it will be permitted to catch lobster from October 1st, 8:00 am until November 30th.

For the rest of the country’s fishing season will be from October 1st, 8:00 am to 31 December.
In addition, restrictions on fishing on weekends and several areas in southern Norway is listed for lobster fishing.

New sanctuaries from this year’s Bolærne, Sandø, Stauper and in Hardanger, said Fisheries directorate.

Lobster with external eggs are protected during the whole year and common minimum is 25 centimeters.
Lobster fishing is controlled by vessels from both the Coast Guard and police, as well as oversees vessels of Fisheries.
