Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad says that he believes the new corona measures that will be announced on Tuesday will reduce the pressure on the health service.

On Tuesday, the Norwegian government will introduce stricter national corona measures. The Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) worked intensively over the weekend and on Monday to prepare their recommendation to the government.

“We have assessed the situation thoroughly and proposed measures that we believe will reduce the burden on the health service in Norway,” Nakstad told NTB on Tuesday.

He added that it is up to the government to take a position on the measures.

The National Institute of Public Health’s head of infection control, Line Vold, told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that stricter measures would be presented on Tuesday.

  1. We can assume that foremost among these “new measures” is the most obvious one since the very start of this pandemic in March 2020: Facemasking.

Why hasn’t this been re-implemented before? Why are our health personnel and facilities being put through this, their current ordeal, because those necessary measures were not implemented in time, when they obviously should have been?
