Over half of those who are convicted of offenses against children under 14 years old, are between 15 and 24 years old, according to an NCIS report.
NCIS has in a new report looked into 107 sentences for sexual offenses against children under 14 years. The sentences concerns a total of 132 children who have been the victim of or otherwise exposed to sexual offences. In addition to this, the report is also based on interviews with law enforcement investigators and relevant research.
The report reveals that a large proportion of children have experienced the most serious offenses, such as penetration, and in 12 percent of the cases, the abuse was filmed or photographed.
The age group with the largest numer of offenders is by far young offenders between 15 and 24 years old , over half of those convicted were at that age when they committed the first assault. 79 of the 107 convicts are also registered as a suspect, indicted or convicted in other sexual offense cases.
