New rules for electric scooters were launched on Friday. Among other things, those who park their electric scooter in the wrong place will now get fines.

On the other hand, no age limit and no ban on driving while intoxicated have been introduced, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications allowed the municipalities to regulate a lot themselves, including how many electric scooters and how many electric scooter-related companies there should be on a municipal level.

These are the new rules:

  • You can get a parking fee if you do not park properly.
  • Only one person is allowed on an electric scooter at a time.
  • Signs must be put up about where it is allowed to drive electric scooters.
  • You can’t drive faster than 6 km/h on sidewalks when driving past pedestrians.

Those who break the rules will be fined.
