Around 100,000 more women than men in Norway have chosen to get the third vaccine dose against COVID-19. The development worries the FHI.

“It is unfortunate since we also see that men are over-represented when it comes to severe cases of COVID-19,” FHI chief physician Are Stuwitz Berg told TV 2.

Around 1.54 million women have taken the third vaccine dose in the country so far, while the figure for men is 1.43 million.

Berg says it is difficult to point to one concrete reason why women are overrepresented but emphasizes that women generally seek out services in the health service to a greater extent than men.

He encourages both men and women to follow the current recommendations on vaccines.
