On Friday, the three party leaders of the governing parties will hold a press conference on the reopening of Norway. They will announce news related to step three of the reopening plan.

The press conference will be held on Friday at 1 PM.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H), Liberal Party (V) leader and Minister of Education Guri Melby, and Christian Democratic Party (KrF) leader and Minister of Children and Care Services Kjell Ingolf Ropstad will participate at the conference.

In addition, Minister of Health Bent Høie (H), Minister of Justice Monica Mæland (H), Director of Health Bjørn Guldvog, and FHI chief Camilla Stoltenberg will also attend.

Expected relief

Some corona relief is expected in stage three. Among other things, it should be possible to have up to 5,000 spectators at sporting events.

At the same time, the number of visitors people can invite to their home will increase from 10 to 20.

In addition, the alcohol-serving stop at midnight will likely be lifted. However, separate local rules could override the national framework, as is the case in, for example, Oslo.

Penultimate step

It has also been announced that the global travel council may be wound up if the move is justifiable in terms of infection control. The current travel advice is valid until July 1.

Step three is the penultimate step in the government’s reopening plan.

There has been some tension about whether the reopening will go as planned or whether it will have to be postponed due to the spread of the delta variant in Norway, as has been the case in the UK.
