The police are dropping the case against the pilot and the helicopter company related to a helicopter crash in Alta in 2019 in which six people died.

The helicopter was operated by Helitrans and crashed in the mountain area of Skoddevarre near Alta.

“The case against the pilot has been dropped due to the suspect’s death, while the case against Helitrans AS has been dropped as no criminal relationship has been proven,” Acting State Attorney Jørn H. Bremnes stated in a press release.

Bremnes added that there is no finding of guilt in the dismissal of the case against the pilot.

“In the case of Helitrans AS, the prosecution has assessed that there is no basis for criminal liability for the company, either under the Air Transport Act or the Criminal Code,” Bremnes stated.
