Singapore’s presidential couple were given a royal welcome on Monday when they began their first state visit to Norway.
For President Tony Tan and president Lady Mary Tan a traditional welcome ceremony took place at the Palace Square, with photographs taken in the Bird Room and exchanges of gifts at the Palace.
Meetings between the countries’ political leaders as well as the presidential and royal couples was on the program, before the evening Gala dinner at the Royal Palace.
It is the first time Norway has received a state visit from Singapore. Since our royal couple made a similar visit in 2004, the collaboration with Singapore has increased tremendously.
Now it is hoped to strengthen bilateral cooperation even more, particularly within the maritime and offshore industries as well as in education and research.
In addition, Arctic issues will play a central role during the visit, the Foreign Ministry informed.
