Anders Mol and Christian Sørum won European Championship gold in sand volleyball on Sunday after a 2-0 victory in sets in the final.
The Norwegian star duo won 21-19 in the first set and 21-15 in the second against the Russians Viasjlav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovsky.
“It feels incredible. Three in a row is fantastic”, Anders Mol said after the gold in an interview shown on Viaplay.
“We played better and better throughout the tournament – and best in the final”, said Christian Sørum.
This gold is their third straight in the European Championship context.
Krasilnikov and Stoyanovsky took the lead 1-0 in the first set and led by four points 9-5, before Mol and Sørum turned up the steam. They were equally far at 16-16 and 19-19, before the Norwegian duo managed to decide with two straight points to 21-19.
Also in the second set, Krasilnikov and Stoyanovsky got off to the best start. They were ahead 4-2, but from there on out there was complete dominance from Mol and Sørum’s side. They led at most with eight points (18-10), and eventually won 21-15.
He thus won his third European Championship gold in his career.
