In a survey conducted by Opinion for Virke, 55 percent say that they are positive about tourist tax, as long as the money goes to developing the destination.

At the same time, 20 per cent of those polled say they are negative about tourist tax, according to the survey.

A majority in the Storting said ‘no’ in 2017 to open for tourist tax, but lately both the Socialistic Left Party (SV) and the Labor Party (Ap) have flipped their positions, and the Christian Democratic Party (KrF) is slipping. On Tuesday there is a hearing in the Storting in connection with a representative proposal from the SV on the investigation and introduction of the tax.

Opinion’s survey is based on 1,537 interviews in November and December and must be interpreted within error margins of between 1.1 and 2.5 per cent.
