A Church strike will only affect Oslo for now

There will be a strike in the Norwegian Church from Wednesday morning if the mediation does not lead to a solution. All church activities that will be affected are located in Oslo.

Parat, together with eleven other trade unions, will take out nearly 100 employees on strike if there is no agreement during the mediation.

If there is a strike, some church activities in Oslo will be affected.

– A strike will initially affect the Church Council’s Secretariat, the administration of the Oslo Diocese, the Church Council in Oslo, and also the congregations in Oslo, says Parat’s negotiator, Bjørn Are Sæther to NTB.

The negotiations between the different employee organizations and the Employers Organization for Church Activities (KA) were broken off in July.

All professions

Sæther says all professions in the church are affected by the conflict.

– Pastors, deacons, catechists, organists, kindergarten workers, pedagogues, office employees, grave diggers etc are all part of the mediation we are now entering into.

A total of 93 employees will participate in the first stage of a strike. The Professionals Association (Fagforbundet) have the most registered participants with 36. Behind them follows Unio and the Music Federation (MFO) with 28 and 11 registered participants.

The congregations that affected are Vestre Aker, Nordre Aker, Groruddalen, Søndre Aker and the Cathedral dioceses.
