People who vote KrF (Christian People’s Party) or FrP (Progress Party) believe the most that ghosts exist, according to a new survey.

40 % of KrF-voters and 37 % of FrP-voters say “some houses and buildings may be haunted by spirits,” according to the survey by the Institute for Church, Religion and Worldview Research (Kifo), according to Vårt Land.

Among Venstre (Left)-voters, only 10 % believe the same, the lowest proportion among voter groups. In total, every fourth Norwegian believes that haunted houses exist.

“There is a strong connection between believing in reincarnation, horoscopes, happiness amulets, haunted spirits and being low educated, female and living in more rural areas,” says Kifo scientist Tore Witsø Rafoss.

In almost all parties, women believe in ghosts more than men do, but KrF is the exception. Half of men who vote for KrF believe in haunted houses, compared to 30 % of KrF women.
