The NAV is preparing to pay out holiday pay on unemployment benefits before the summer, even though the scheme has still not been adopted.

“NAV has initiated work on such a solution, so if it is adopted, it now looks like we will receive payments before the summer holidays,” emergency manager Yngvar Åshol in NAV told FriFagbevegelse.

After a political tug-of-war in the Norwegian parliament (Storting), it became clear in February that the red-green parties and the Progress Party (FRP) pushed through the demand for holiday pay on unemployment benefits for the unemployed and laid-off – but only partially.

Thus, the scheme is yet to be adopted. In parallel with this, the NAV is preparing to pay holiday pay on unemployment benefits before the summer.

At the beginning of April last year, 433,000 people were registered as completely or partially unemployed, or job seekers on measures at the NAV.
