Norway will now initiate work towards administration to Donald Trump to safeguard their own and European interests, forecasts Foreign Minister Børge Brende.
Labour leader Jonas Gahr Støre took up the fresh election result in Parliament’s oral question time on Wednesday.
– Which plan, the government has to make contact with this administration, and what are the messages we have to those who will take charge in the United States from January 2017? he asked.
Brende stressed that Norway should deal with Trump and his advisors.
– The important thing now for Norway is working consciously forward with the new US administration not least to protect our and Europe’s interests, said Brende.
– The first concern is our close security cooperation.
The collective security is important. We are totally dependent on the world’s largest economy, the United States, which continues to be an active player in international trade, said Brende.
