The Chinese Foreign Ministry has delivered an official compliant to the “relevant parties” in the US after Donald Trump spoke with Taiwan’s president on the phone.
The statement says that the phone call is contrary to the principle that there is only “one China,” writes Reuters.

US elected-President Donald Trump received a welcomed a phone call on Friday from Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-wen.

It is startling because Taiwan is not recognized internationally as an independent state, and the United States broke off diplomatic relations with the island in 1979.

China expects Taiwan as part of its territory and has demanded a reunion ever since the island broke away in 1949.
