Only 319,370 passengers traveled with Norwegian’s aircraft in September, a decrease of as much as 90% from the same month last year.

Norwegian’s traffic figures for September were strongly affected by lower demand due to stricter travel restrictions throughout Europe, the company stated in a press release.

Several countries went from “yellow” to “red” in terms of their travel status in September.

“We adapt the route offer continuously based on the situation, but the constant changes in the authorities’ travel restrictions make it very demanding to make plans for both the customers and us.

“Crisis not over”

“Going forward, we see that this crisis is by no means over,” Norwegian’s CEO Jacob Schram noted.

The planes were a little over half full, with a filling rate of 52.8%.

The total capacity (ASK) was down 93% from September last year, while passenger traffic (RPK) was 96% lower.

The punctuality of the flights in September was 97.6%.
