The Norwegian Farmers’ Association is asking the government to present support measures to address the spike in electricity, fuel, and fertilizer prices.

“The price that agriculture is seeing now is double compared to last year,” Bjørn Gimming, the leader of the Norwegian Farmers’ Association, told the newspaper Dagbladet.

“The government is constantly pointing to the May agricultural settlement. We need clearer signals now,” he said.

He asked the government to present clearer compensatory measures this spring, as well as compensation for increased fertilizer prices.

He also asked for a guarantee that production would pay off for the entire Norwegian agriculture sector.
