The nuclear power plant in Oskarshamn in Sweden may have to close for repairs. That may lead to higher electricity prices in Norway.

Due to the so-called “secondary fuel damage” in the last reactor that is still in operation in the nuclear plant, the plant might have to close for repairs, the newspaper Aftenposten writes.

The issue should not pose an acute danger, but it may be necessary to shut down the reactor to carry out repairs. In case of repairs, it will immediately have a severe effect on electricity prices in the Stockholm region, which often struggles with the power supply in the winter and has little energy production beyond nuclear power.

Norway may also feel the effects of power shortages in the east.
