This week, the winter holidays start in several places in Norway.

“We will have good winter holiday weather for most people both on Monday and during the day on Tuesday. But on Tuesday night, precipitation with mild air will move into Western Norway. On Wednesday, there will be wind and rain in the lowlands west of Southern Norway. In the mountains, it will snow, but it will be windy,” the meteorologists announced on Twitter.

Furthermore, meteorologists note that those who enjoy skiing should get to higher terrain.

“Along the coast and in the lowlands, there are varying snow conditions, but a bit up in the terrain, the chance of good ski trails is great.”

Avalanche risk

The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has issued an orange danger warning for avalanches for Monday.

The affected areas include Trollheimen, Romsdal, Sunnmøre, Indre Fjordane, Voss and Hardanger.

From Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon, a lot of snow is expected in the mountains in Vestland and Nord-Rogaland.

Meteorologists believe that between 30 and 50 centimeters could fall in a day. At the same time, it will rain below 600 meters above sea level on Wednesday afternoon.
