Bridge Builder Award to Queen Sonja

This year’s Bridge Builder Price goes to Queen Sonja, for, among other things, her efforts to improve the rights of minority women.
The August 14 Committee, which awards the prize, has especially noted the queen’s commitment to improve the situationof immigrant women in Norway. She was also lauded for her efforts to build closer ties between religious leaders.
– The queen has also, along with the king, made a historic initiative to build even closer ties and understanding between different religious leaders by visiting different religious faiths and simultaneously inviting Christians of all kinds, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Baha’i, Sikhs, Holists and Humanists to take part in a dialogue at the Palace.
The August 14 committee is working to bridge the gap between the Norwegian-Pakistani population and Norwegian society.
