The streaming service Viaplay and the production company Filmlance will make a family-friendly fantasy series on Astrid Lindgren‘s stories about Ronja Røverdatter.

37 years after the premiere of Tage Danielsson‘s film version, a new generation will now meet Ronja, Birk, and the other characters and creatures of Ronja Røverdatter.

Filmlance says they will make twelve episodes of the series Ronja, divided into two seasons that will be streamed on Viaplay.

The production takes place in close collaboration with Astrid Lindgren Aktiebolag (AB), which manages all rights to the author’s works, both companies stated in a press release.

The series will premiere on Viaplay in 2023.
