122,000 people visited this year’s Bergen International Festival, 17 percent more than last year, which was was also a record year.
– We hardly believed it was possible for us to top 2015, but the numbers today show that we have superseded the previous year in terms of both number of visitors and tickets sold, says a very happy festival director Anders Beyer in a statement.

For it was not just audience numbers that rose; ticket sales also went up, albeit more modestly. An increase from 35,000 to 37,000 tickets is a growth of just under 6 percent. The figures do not include sponsorship tickets or free tickets.
– We have experienced that we reach out to an ever wider audience. The events at the Festival Square has also drawn closer to 39,000 people for concerts, performances, installations, dance and film, says Beyer.
