The new Viking Age Museum on Bygdøy will be prioritized in the current state budget for 2021.

The building will be completed in 2025.

The museum, which the government approved in 2019, will receive NOK 110 million in the state budget, the Ministry of Education writes.

The new museum will be built together with the existing Viking Ship Museum on Bygdøy in Oslo.

In total, the new museum will be three times larger than the current museum.

The cost framework for the construction project is NOK 2.2 billion.
