Minister of Culture Abid Raja (V) announced on Tuesday that the support scheme for the cultural sector would be expanded to NOK 690 million in 2020.

That is an increase of NOK 190 million from the original 500 that the scheme consisted of.

A total of 1,711 applications have been submitted from the culture sector, and Raja hopes that they will be processed during the week.

More than 1,500 applications have already been processed, and NOK 629 million has already been granted.

Support for museums

Raja also announced that an extra NOK 60 million had been set aside for institutions such as museums so that they can maintain operations.

Furthermore, the Cultural Fund will also be strengthened by NOK 40 million.

“I hope this is news that will increase predictability for many who receive support through the Norwegian Cultural Fund,” Raja noted.
