The compensation scheme for the cultural sector will be extended, at least until 2021. “They can lower their shoulders,” Minister of Culture Abid Raja (V) said on Thursday.

Raja told the newspaper VG that he can “clarify” that the scheme will last for the rest of the year, at least.

“Culture is very important for us. It is not only food and entertainment; it also entails our values, education, and cultural heritage. Culture is one of the things Norwegians have missed most during the crisis, in addition to having a beer in the city, and I am glad that we have stood up for the cultural sector,” Raja noted.

According to VG, a similar extension of the support schemes for sports and volunteering is also being considered.
