NRK has decided to remove three episodes of its “Helt Ramm i Tokyo” TV program.

The reason is criticism of Ramm’s portrayal of a Japanese game show host. Namely, the “Japanese Ramm Show” part of the program has been perceived as stigmatizing and hurtful, NRK wrote in a press release. It was VG who first mentioned the case.

“So far, there has not been a lot of negative feedback on the episodes, but the feedback we did receive has been so strong, we re-evaluated the content and came to the conclusion that it is right to de-publish,” stated Anders Sårheim, Acting Editor of Sporten to NRK.

The main character also says he agrees with the decision. “We now see that we have made a mistake. So, it is absolutely right to remove the content.

“We thought it would be fun for everyone. But that is not the case,” said Nicolay Ramm.
