The Øyafestivalen music festival has been canceled for the second year in a row. The festival’s organizers have made the decision that it is not possible to carry out the event.

The organizers behind the Øyafestivalen, an annual Norwegian music festival that takes place in the Tøyen Park in Oslo, announced the news in a press release on Friday morning.

“We know that you have been looking forward to Øya 2021. We have (been looking forward to it) too. Therefore, it is difficult to say that we have now made the decision not to arrange a festival this year.

“In recent months, we have held on to the hope that it would be possible to implement (the festival), but we now see that it would not work,” Tonje Kaada, general manager of the festival, wrote in the press release.

Planning for next year

This year’s Øya Festival should have been held on August 10-14 in the Tøyen Park. However, the organizers are already in the process of planning next year’s festival.

“Now, we will put all the focus and all our efforts on the 2022 edition. The goal is to give you the very best version of the Øya Festival ever,” the festival team wrote.
