Incredibly sad. I had hoped for new concerts and new songs, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg after it became known that the artist Prince was dead.
– I have listened to Prince’s music when I wanted motivation in election campaigns and political debates, and I listened to Prince when I’ve found that things were a bit slow and difficult, says Solberg to the news agency NTB.
The Prime Minister was among the first to comment on the news of his death on Twitter, but was quickly joined by other well-known names. Outside the Prime Minister’s residence later in the evening she commented on the artist and his death further.
– Prince had the ability to renew himself and connect through his songs. He was special for me because he was unique in communicating through his music, says Solberg.
On many occasions previously, she has spoken about her relationship with the diverse artist who for several decades made a strong impact on the music scene.
– This type of music is an important part of your youth. When I was a student, when I met my husband, well all the important moments. I still listen to Prince almost every day, she says.
The song “When Doves Cry” from the album “Purple Rain” in 1984 she acknowledges as her favorite song among the several thousand songs that the artist wrote.
‘ Extremely sad! Thank you for the music in my life’ wrote Solberg in Norwegian and English on Twitter after she first asked if the sad news was really true.
