The Queen has opened the Art Gallery in Trondheim
Queen Sonja was impressed by Trondheim’s new Art Gallery, which forms the art headquarters together with the library and the House of Literature.
Kunsthall (Art Gallery) Trondheim has been operated as a pilot project since 2013. Tonight the Art Gallery is a permanent institution of national and international contemporary art.
– It is impressive and excellent to see the result. We’ve struggled for a long time to accomplish this, the queen said in her opening speech, according to the newspaper Adresseavisen.
The Queen said that she believes that Art Gallery will mean a lot to Trondheim.
– Finally, we have the Art Gallery in place and which we have worked on for over ten years, said Mayor Rita Ottervik during the opening.
The exhibition “This is a political (painting)” inaugurates the new building.
It displays works by Swedish Kajsa Dahlberg, A K Dolven from Norway, French Claire Fontaine, Alexandra Pirici from Romania and Valie Export from Austria.
