The King and Queen celebrated with winter joy and cheer

The Castle Square and the park were filled with ski loving children when the royal couple celebrated the 25 years on the throne under a sparkling winter sun.

King Winter were at his most welcoming when his Royale ‘colleagues’, King Harald and Queen Sonja, received the anniversary gift from the government this Sunday: A big public celebration in the snow just outside the castle gate.

The Queen put on her skis and were joined by both Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre in the track, cheered on by the crowd.

The Crown Prince Couple took a few laps in the track and along the way they helped several young skiers who in their eagerness had stumbled in their equipment.

 The three daughters of Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn  amused themselves by snowboarding in the castle stairs, with the king as a spectator.
