The Sámi National Theater and a Sámi high school allocated NOK 60 million

NOK 60 million Norwegian kroner has been allocated to the construction of a new building for the Sámi upper secondary school and reindeer husbandry school, as well as the Sámi National Theater Beaivváš.

The Norwegian government has presented a proposal for a cost framework of NOK 461 million. The plan includes an initial allocation of NOK 60 million in the state budget for 2022.

“This is a day to celebrate an important issue that we have worked on for a long time. It will be of great importance to the Sámi culture in Norway.

“This will be an important part of the infrastructure to strengthen and preserve Sámi identity, language, and culture,” said Minister of Defense Frank Bakke-Jensen (H) who went to Kautokeino to announce the news.
