Viasat customers can still watch the World Cup on TV 2 after TV 2 and Viasat agreed on a new distribution agreement on Saturday night.

“We are pleased to have reached agreement and believe the agreement will benefit both parties. In particular, we are pleased on behalf of viewers. They have a lot to

enjoy already in the summer, with final games in the World Cup and the Tour de France,”said Olav T. Sandnes, chief editor and CEO of TV 2.

The previous agreement between the two media companies expired on June 20, and it was for a long time uncertain whether 150,000 Viasat customers could get screenings during the World Cup.

Sarah Willand, Organization and Communications Director of TV 2, told NTB news that it is a long-term agreement that will results in a price increase for Viasat.
“We asked for a marginal price increase because Viasat has access to more of our content, including the entire TV 2 sports offer. There are the Champions League, Europa League,Premier League and Tour de France, so it’s natural that the price will increases, said Willand.

She did not want to comment on any specific price for the deal.

Vegard Klubbenes Drogseth, Managing Director of Viasat Norway, is pleased with the agreement.

“We are looking forward to having a new deal with TV 2. TV 2’s channels are an important part of Viasat Satellite and Viasat IPTV channel portfolio, and we have now secured our customers a complete TV product,” said Drogseth.
