Water flow is diminishing, but there is still a danger of flooding and landslides in western Norway and in Trøndelag. In Surnadal, about 100 sheep have died after being taken by floodwaters.

Heavy rain, floods and landslides characterized the past weekend in western and central Norway, but the worst flood danger now seems to be over.

The hazard level was lowered to level yellow on Monday evening for flooding and landslides in western Norway and in Trøndelag. NVE is no longer in readiness, but is monitoring the situation closely.

The large quantities of water have created problems in a number of places.

In Surnadal in Møre og Romsdal, the river Surna breached its banks on Monday, and about 100 sheep died after being taken by the floodwaters. Two cows are also likely dead, relays the Mayor, Lilly Gunn Nyheim.
