125,000 people are without a general practitioner in Norway: “Municipalities are breaking the law”

125,000 Norwegians don’t have a general practitioner (GP9. The crisis is greatest in Northern Norway, where more than 30,000 are without a GP.

A total of 32,119 inhabitants Nordland and Troms og Finnmark do not have a GP, according to a survey from Alis Nord, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) writes.

The survey shows that the GP capacity has been used up in one of three municipalities in Northern Norway.

“These municipalities are breaking the law. A municipality has a duty to offer a GP to anyone who wants a GP,” project manager in Alis Nord, Svein Ragnar Steinert, states.

Nordland is the worst off – 19 of 41 municipalities don’t have GP capacity to cover the demand.
