Stavanger Municipality has sent out 93,000 text messages with vaccination summons to its inhabitants. Only 77,000 have registered for the vaccine.

Infection control doctor Ruth Midtgarden told the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad that she believes the reasons why 16,000 have not registered are complex.

Still, she encourages those who have received the SMS to register as soon as possible.

Vaccination goal

“If many people wait to be vaccinated, we can have problems serving everyone,” Midtgarden said.

The chief infection control officer says they have a goal of vaccinating at least 80% of the population. Of the 144,000 who live in the Municipality, 51.7% have received their first dose so far.

A total of 576 people in Stavanger have refused the vaccine.
