A 18 year old man has been sentenced to six months in jail for attacking a 19 year old Syrian refugee in Namsos last summer.
The main offender was sentenced to to six months in prison by Namdal district court. He also has to pay a fine of 10,000 crowns, loses his right to drive a car and will have his firearms taken away.
He also has to pay compensation for the victim’s cell phone, which was destroyed.
– Unprovoked and aggravated assault
The verdict was handed down Tuesday and read out to the defendants onFriday. The verdict states that the court puts a particular emphasis on the fact that this is a case of unprovoked and aggravated assault.
The part where the main defendant hits the Syrian and wrestles him to the ground, was filmed and posted on social media. The verdict reveals that the 19-year-old suffered injuries to his head, knee and hand, as well as a strong psychological reaction due to the assault.
