A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison for raping three girls under the age of 14 and two other girls between the ages of 14 and 16.

The man from Trøndelag has also been convicted of having sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 14 or having a child under the age of 14 perform acts that correspond to sexual intercourse.

The abuse took place between 2017 and 2020. The man confessed to all of the circumstances in court but emphasized in his explanation that there had been no coercion.

His defender, lawyer Jorunn Løvseth, asked that her client be sentenced to the mildest possible punishment – on the basis of his explanation. In addition, she noted that the prosecutor had not taken sufficient account of the age similarity, the fact that contraception was used, and the defendant’s confession.

Court: Extensive pressure

The court, however, agreed with the prosecutor, who asked for 5-6 years in prison. According to the court’s opinion, the accused exerted somewhat extensive pressure and, on one occasion, gave one of the girls a drink.

In addition to the prison sentence, the 20-year-old must pay reparation to six of the victims. The compensations range between NOK 75,000 and NOK 50,000.
