A 21-year-old man from Sørlandet in Kristiansand District Court has been sentenced to two years and ten months imprisonment for sexual abuse against a seven-year-old girl in 2017.
He must also pay the girl 120,000 NOK in compensation says Assistant Attorney Tone Linn Thingvold in Fædrelandsvennen.
“Due to delays in the case by the police, the sentence was reduced by five months in prison,” she says.
In January 2017, the seven-year-old girl told her mother about a sexual assault she had been exposed to.
After the suspected man was questioned by the police, at the time he was 19 years old, it took 2 years before the case came to court.
In Kristiansand District Court, the man denied guilt for the abuse, which is equivalent to rape.
