The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has conducted a record number of theory tests for driving, this summer. But as many as 37 percent of the candidates failed.
A total of 68,342 people took the theory test in June, July and August, an increase of 43 percent from the same period last year, according to figures presented by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration on Friday.
But many were too poorly prepared, and 25,365 candidates failed.
“With a failure rate of 37, it is clear that many take the theory test too lightly. Many take the theory test before they are ready, just to check how they are doing”, says department director Frode Børstad in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration in a press release.
