The number of residents in asylum centers in Norway has fallen sharply since January. In transit centers, the number decreased by 40 percent.
At the end of the first week this year a total of 30,293 people were staying in asylum centers in Norway. In late February, the figure had fallen to 27,773, according to recent figures from the Directorate of Immigration. This is a reduction of 8.3 percent.
The declining numbers are due to the number of persons in transit centers having been greatly reduced.
At the end of February, the number of residents in the transit center in were 6671, a drop of 40.6 percent from January.
